Tampa DUI Arrest – Hillsborough County Deputy Arrests Drunk Driver Who Admits To Eight Beers

Tampa DUI arrest

A Tampa DUI arrest Wednesday featured a driver who admitted to drinking eight beers and had a blood alcohol level of .372 and .382, which is more than four times the legal alcohol limit in Florida when it comes to operating a vehicle.  The arrest took place around 8:30 p.m. according to the St. Petersburg Times’ website. The stop was made near Smitter Road and Bearrs Avenue.

Reports state that a silver Toyota was swerving and braking in a suspicious manner that led the officer to suspect a DUI driving pattern. The car was pulled over and during the traffic stop the driver allegedly admitted to drinking. He didn’t tell the Hillsborough County deputy he had a beer or two, he reportedly admitted to drinking eight beers and each one was 16 ounces. That might explain his blood alcohol level being more than four times the legal limit measuring at .372 and .382.

The deputy reported that the drunk driver had to sit several times during questioning and had trouble even keeping his eyes open. He also allegedly admitted to the deputy that he shouldn’t be driving but obviously that didn’t stop him. The Tampa man was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail and held on $500 bail. It was not indicated whether or not he posted bail or is still being held but he was booked in early Thursday morning.

There was no information on where the driver was coming from prior to his DUI stop or if he has any prior DUI arrests or convictions on his record. The man’s age was listed as 49-years-old in the TampaBay.com story.  If you are in need of a Tampa DUI attorney, please visit FightYourTampaDUI.com for information of the Law Firm of Finebloom and Haenel.
