Florida Sheriff Arrested For A DUI In Tampa Pleads Guilty To A Misdemeanor After Third DUI

Former Lafayette County Sheriff Dewayne Walker pled guilty to misdemeanor DUI after his third DUI and now will be required to use a breath machine to start his vehicle. Walker was twice removed from office for public drunkenness. The former sheriff was pulled over for speeding and refused to take a breath test and sign his citation. At that point he was charged with felony DUI.

The judge sentenced Walker to 45 days of house arrest, one year of probation, ordered him to pay fees and fines of $1,500 and suspended his license for six months. The judge made a point to say that the punishment would have been harsher had this DUI happened within five years of the last but that wasn’t the case as Walker’s last DUI occurred in Tampa in 2003.

If you have been charged with a DUI in Tampa or Hillsborough County, please do not hesitate to contact Tampa DUI Attorney Stephen Higgins, Esq. at 1-800-FIGHT-IT (1800-344-4848) to discuss the matter. Also you can contact Stephen in our new Tampa office located at 3426 W. Kennedy Blvd.
