Talk about the wrong place at the wrong time. Alleged DUI driver Kimberly Argue slammed into the back of a patrol cruiser and then fled the scene. Officer John Martini of the St. Petersburg Police Department had previously pulled behind and stopped a PT Cruiser. During the course of giving that driver a citation for hitting a traffic control box, Argue slammed into the back of his patrol car which was pushed into the PT cruiser and then Ms. Argue drove off! The occupants of the PT cruiser were listed in serious condition. Ms. Argue was later stopped by the Florida Highway Patrol and charged with leaving the scene of an accident and DUI.
A Leaving the Scene of an Accident charge is very serious if the alleged victim in the case is seriously injured. This is also true for a charge of DUI resulting in Serious Bodily Injury. In either case, it is possible that the state attorney will pursue felony charges against the accused primarily because of the injury suffered by the victim. I is of utmost importance to speak to a criminal defense attorney to discuss your options and the strategy of defense.
