Tampa DUI News

There was news around the courthouse in Hillsborough County on Monday when details came out about the weekend arrest of a local lawyer on Tampa DUI charges. According to a story in the on-line edition of the St. Petersburg Times, Andres Felip Sanchez was arrested Saturday morning on charges of driving under the influence.

According to arrest reports Sanchez was seen speeding in Tampa on N Dale Mabry by Pine Crest Manor Blvd. According to the deputy, he witnessed the 1998 Mercedes speeding 11 miles over the posted limit and the deputy also claims that Sanchez was drifting in his lane. At that point he decided to pull Sanchez over and begin a DUI investigation on the potential drunk driver.

The deputy reported smelling alcohol on Sanchez and he also listed other signs of impairment like slurred speech and watery eyes. Sanchez was asked to perform field sobriety tests but he declined the request of the deputy to participate in the roadside tests. Later he refused a breath test as well. According to the story Sanchez is a Hillsborough County public defender and his age is listed as 32. He was released from jail on $500 bail.

There is no information in the story if Sanchez had ever been arrested for DUI before or if he has retained the services of a Tampa DUI attorney to fight his charges. There was also no statement from the Hillsborough County public defender’s office concerning the arrest of Sanchez.
