Man Who Avoided Jail On DUI Manslaughter Conviction Arrested On Another DUI Charge

Donald Hancock was convicted of killing his wife Irene in a 1997 accident that was attributed to drunk driving. The DUI manslaughter conviction could have carried a sentence of as many as 17 years but the family of the victim pleaded that Hancock get a second chance and the judge seemed to agree with a sentence that did not include jail. Now according to a story on TampaBay.com Hancock has once again been arrested and charged with driving under the influence and possibly violating his DUI probation.

Police report stopping Hancock around 3:00 a.m. after he made a U-turn on a red flashing light without stopping. The officer reported smelling alcohol and noticing bloodshot watery eyes upon approaching Hancock. The Pasco man then reportedly did not perform well on field sobriety tests and refused to take a breath test. The officer discovered open bottles of liquor in Hancock’s trunk but the man denied being drunk. He did tell the officer he was on probation for DUI for “killing his wife”.
